CWI-logoCommercial Warehousing, Inc. (CWI) is seeking a Vice President, Business Development.

The Vice President, Business Development is responsible and accountable for new business development, RFP analysis and response, pricing, customer profitability and developing short and long-term sales goals, while acting as a strategic business partner to the President.  It is essential that this individual be able to identify target markets, aggressively solicit and qualify prospects, and close deals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute revenue and contribution through the creation of winning relationships in new business pursuits and contract renewals
  • Engage necessary Operations, Risk and Finance Teams to ensure commercial arrangements are financially and operationally sound
  • Foster a sense of urgency, professionalism and execution that establishes a new level of expected performance
  • Establish revenue targets and account development plans that meet Business expectations
  • Monitor service levels to ensure that performance statistics meet customer and CWI’s contractual requirements
  • Provide strategic planning specific to customer development training requirements and processes
  • Development and execution of customer development strategy / annual plans (budget, operational performance, SOP’s, customer plans, workshops, etc.)
  • Ensure accuracy of Customer Development Pipeline
  • Ensure Customer Development capabilities operate with the necessary level of continuity and creativity to meet Business demands. Partnering with Operations Team is imperative to achieve this goal
  • Evaluate and improve current service offerings and approach
  • Serve as a creative force and drive the pace of change within CWI
  • Participate in the identification/evaluation of potential external partners
  • Define and communicate Customer requirements
  • Review existing tools, techniques, and methodologies, and select/develop required additions

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven record of success selling and marketing warehousing (contract, public, temp-control and dry), transportation and related logistics services
  • Thorough knowledge in a diverse array of logistics disciplines, to include: distribution, warehousing, transportation and secondary packaging.
  • A hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem solving
  • The ability to meet strict time frames in environments with zero tolerance for failure
  • A genuine passion for supply chain development and implementation, as demonstrated by creativity and customer service
  • A commitment to continuous improvement in an ever-changing industry.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills
  • Strong command of business and technical abilities
  • Ability to grow and assume greater responsibilities
  • Self-confidence, particularly with Customer relationships.
  • Must posses an entrepreneurial spirit as well as a diverse and progressive leadership and management background
  • Must posses strong warehouse operations knowledge in 3PL industry, preferably public cold storage, dry warehousing and contract warehousing
  • Knowledge of warehouse (WMS), transportation (TMS), and ERP systems is necessary
  • Ability to navigate in Windows based operating systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and standard Internet and Email programs

Education/Training/Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or a related discipline (MBA preferred); Five (5) plus years of selling and marketing Public Warehousing Services (dry and temp-control), Contract Warehousing, and related logistics, secondary packaging and transportation support services; minimum of three (3) years in warehouse operations also required or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Significant travel is required for this position
